Abstract

Background: Complementary Feeding (MP-ASI) plays a crucial role in meeting the nutritional needs of children aged 7-12 months at UPT Puskesmas Jiput. The quality and type of complementary feeding can affect the appetite and growth development of children.Research Objective: This study aims to evaluate the impact of providing complementary feeding of spinach and eggs on the appetite and growth development of children aged 7-12 months at UPT Puskesmas Jiput in 2024.Research Method: The research methodology employed a pre-post test design with a total of 24 respondents to evaluate the impact of different types of complementary feeding on the appetite and growth development of children. Respondents were not divided into intervention and control groups but were instead given the same treatment concerning the type of complementary feeding consumed. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the help of SPSS software.Research Findings: The analysis of the research results indicated a statistically significant relationship between the complementary feeding of spinach and eggs given to the children and their weight gain. Moreover, there were positive outcomes concerning the children's development in terms of the suitability of complementary feeding with established nutritional standards. The spinach and egg complementary feeding showed a higher level of compliance with the KPSP standards, suggesting that the type of complementary feeding provided significantly influences the children's adherence to recommended nutritional standards. Conclusion and Recommendations: The provision of varied complementary feeding positively impacts the appetite and growth of children aged 7-12 months. The implications of this study highlight the importance of considering the variety and quality of complementary feeding in designing children's nutrition programs. To enhance appetite and growth development in children, it is recommended to increase parental education on the importance of variety in providing complementary feeding. This step is expected to support children in achieving their optimal growth potential.
