Abstract

Purpose : 90% of maternal deaths during pregnancy are caused by obstetric complications, which are often unpredictable at the time of pregnancies. Indirectly, the mother's death was also influenced by the family-level delay in recognizing signs of pregnancy and making decisions to seek help. Delayed access to health facilities and assistance at health facility. The maternal death rate in Indonesia is still the highest in ASEAN.In the Safe Motherhood Indonesian effort, Making Pregnancy Safer (MPS) is a public health development strategy towards Healthy Indonesia 2020. In the broad sense, the objective of Safe Matherhood Indonesia and Making pregnancy safer is the same, namely to protect reproductive rights and human rights by reducing the burden of pain, disability, and death associated with pregnancies and births that should not occur. Results: So that all women in Indonesia can undergo a safe pregnancy and childbirth and give birth to a healthy baby and empower women, families and communities to promote sustainable mother and newborn health as a priority in national development programmes. Therefore, the recommended risk approach is to assume that all pregnancies are risky and that every pregnant mother should have access to maternity assistance that amends obstetric services. And prevent delays at the family level in recognizing signs of danger and making decisions to immediately seek help.Conclusion: Pregnancy hazards must be recognized and detected early so that they can be dealt with properly as any sign of pregnancy may lead to complications in pregnancies. On the basis of surveys, it has been recognized today that any pregnancy can have potential and be a risk to the mother. The WHO estimates that about 15% of all pregnant women will develop complications related to their pregnancy and may be life-threatening. Bidan as a midwife will find a pregnant woman with complications that may be life-threatening.
